optionaltheory asked: How you can developpe your film and scan them? I mean, for the quality of your photo? I can print photos on my school, and I use mostly Ilford film (400asa most of the time). Maybe you use a large film?
Anonymous asked: If you developed your film at home, how did you print them? I'm thinking of developing my film pictures at home this summer but I would love to print them on my own too. Except I have no equipment for printing!
henrygaudier asked: Your work is amazingly beautiful. I don't know why I've never seen it before.

I’m a big fan of podcasts. I keep up with somewhere between 10 and 20 of them. There are some that are a staple in my diet: TED talks, Radiolab, The Moth, The Art of Photography, This American Life, Science Magazine, Savage Love, a few from the New Yorker (Fiction, Comment, Out Loud), and a few more from NPR. I usually try out a new one every week, just in case it’s any good. Often...

Just realized my Tumblr recently turned 2 years old. Coincidently, the last post was my 2000th - that’s an average of 2.67 posts per day, with 74.2% of the posts being photos. You can check your Tumblr stats here. I don’t use Twitter nearly as much as Tumblr. But when I tweet, I do it on Mondays more than most other days. I have two main peaks during the day: around 10am and at 5pm....

up-the-wolves asked: good stuff!
Anonymous asked: I love your photos! They remind me of some charcoal drawings that I've been doing in which the black clothes your models are wearing are blending into the background and then you have every tone in between black and white. It makes your subjects stand out and their emotions or body movements become the essence of the picture. Great work! It's inspiring.

“The increasing complexity of human knowledge, coupled with the escalating difficulty of the remaining questions, means that people must either work together or fail alone.” But what are the best ways to be creative in a group? And what makes up a good group?
A recent article by Jonah Lehrer published in the New Yorker discusses the best ways to think creatively in groups. The...

Interesting article by Malcolm Gladwell on how Steve Jobs’ real insight was editorial rather than inventive. The article is about the genius in taking what’s in front of you, selecting the best, and ruthlessly refining it. In reading the article, I was made aware of how much photography - more than a lot of other things that I work on - challenges and nurtures such an editorial...

It’s so useful for me to sit in a cafe with only pen and paper for half an hour first thing in the morning. I have a few pages full of ideas - mostly things I want to write about, photography projects, and mathematical analyses.
If there’s a certain quietness around here, it’s mostly because a lot of the projects I’m working on are requiring a fair amount of incubation...

laurenadkins asked: I just wanted to let you know that your photography really impacted me. It inspired me to keep pressing further into my own work and concepts. I love the raw elegance in your photos. The poses and expressions draw you into the photos and keep you there, forcing you to look deeper into the image. As a young photographer still unsure of my style or where I want to go with photography it was really...

A little update.
Working on a few story submissions for a few magazines that I absolutely love. This may be one of the submissions I’m most confident about so far - that’s exciting. I feel I’m getting better at shooting for something, as opposed to just for shooting, which I also love. There’s a weird and subtle difference that’s taken me a while to grasp.
After...
