do you have any advice on how to pursue a passion for photography. i know this will likely result in a difficult and possibly vague answer, but i have few friends who are also involved in film photography. i try and shoot as often as i can, as well as working on building my own darkroom. but i feel as if i've hit a wall creatively... also i love your work, very emotive, in my opinion
Play with both film and digital, toy and pro cameras. Different tools teach all sorts of different things about photography. Learn about the history of photography. Read photography books - and other arts. Collect them. Have a constant stack next to your bed from the library. Learn about how other photographer’s work. Go on walks. Keep your eyes open. Remember beautiful things are happening around you every split second. Nourish curiosity. Keep a notebook and think about the photos that you’d like to do if you had no constraints, write about them, draw them - you won’t always be able to make them, but you can develop a vision. Play. Experiment. Evolve. You know, the usual: embrace your view. Remember everyone hits creative walls. It’s a normal part of the process. It should be part of the fun. It’s key for growth. Pursuing your passion should be inevitable (but what do I know).
